The Department of Innovation and Technology is staffed by 1 Director and 3 technical resource personnel. The Director's chief responsibility is to ensure that technology is used as a tool to provide high quality, efficient, cost effective, and accurate service to anyone who lives, works, or plays in the great city of Westland by developing new ways of doing things through innovation. As the department continues to innovate new and better ways to perform the City's services for the residents and other departments, it still has to maintain current systems. The department provides technology support for over 20 departments, 412 computers, 200 telephones, 900 webpages on multiple websites, and mobile applications. However, the department cannot focus solely on supporting the technology that's currently in place. Technology never rests and there is always change and new products being developed. The Director of Innovation and  Technology spends a portion of every day researching and seeking new technologies that will enhance customer service, make city operations more efficient and save the City and its taxpayers money to be better used for additional programs and services.
