Sex Offenders Registration Act- Act 295 of 1994

The City of Westland has taken a proactive approach to assure compliance by those residents who are required to be on the registry.  This approach includes home checks, and close monitoring of the address verification process.  Offenders found to be non-compliant risk criminal prosecution in accordance with the Act. Copies of the list will not be provided to the public. Alternately, the Michigan State Police maintain a list online, this list is available at www.mipsor.state.mi.us/. The internet list can be searched by last name or by entering one of Westland’s two zip codes, 48185 or 48186. Information from the internet list may be printed as desired.

Details about the Sex Offender Registration Act are available online at: http://www.michiganlegislature.org/ – select “Public Acts” then enter Act 295 of 1994.

The Westland Police Department welcomes tips if you believe a registered sex offender is not in compliance with the law.  Please submit these tips to crimetips@wlpd.net . Tips may also be submitted to the Michigan State Police via the web site at www.mipsor.state.mi.us/.
