In order to help decrease the spread of COVID-19, City of Westland Administrative Offices are closed to the public through April 13, 2020. Please review our online services and department contact emails and phone numbers located on our website.  City staff will still be responding to emails and voicemails as quickly as possible.  There are also two drop boxes located at City Hall for bill payments (no cash please) and document drop offs that will be checked daily.  Thank you for your patience in this unprecedented challenging time and please stay healthy.

Two groups of active members participate in governing the Friendship Center's goals, policies and concerns: the Advisory Council and the Commission on Aging

Advisory Council:
The Advisory Council is a group of selected individuals representing their various groups within the City and the Friendship Center. The council discusses older adult needs, provides feedback from individual groups, and presents issues to the Commission on Aging. The group meets the fourth Thursday at 10:00 a.m. every other month starting in January.  Meetings are held in the Friendship Center conference room.  There will not be a meeting in July.

Commission on Aging:
The Commission on Aging is an eleven-person body appointed by the Mayor which advises the department on the needs of older adults. The Commission advises the Senior Resources department in the concerns and needs of older adults.  The Commission meets the fourth Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. every other month starting in January.  Meetings are held in the Friendship Center conference room.  There will not be a meeting in July.

Memberships:
Friendship Center memberships are from January to January for a $12 annual fee.  For those who wish to take advantage of the fully equipped exercise room, an exercise room badge can be purchased for an additional $25 and is also good from January to January.  If members have friends or family they would like to bring with them - we are always happy to include those living outside of Westland for the same fee.
