The museum complex includes the Felton Farmhouse, a typical Michigan farmhouse built in the 1850's, and the Collins House, which stores the Commission's historical archives. The archives include information on local cemeteries, area schools past and present, census of the 1800's, limited death records from the County Poorhouse (Eloise), history of Nankin Township, and the City of Westland. Octagon House
The Octagon House was originally located on Newburgh Road, north of Warren Road. The center two-stories of the house were built in the 1840's. Two one-story wings were added in 1937. The unique shaped house is being restored and being decorated with 1930's style furnishings. It is possible to reserve the Octagon House for small, intimate weddings also:

The City of Westland is proud to announce that the historic charm of the Octagon House located inside Westland ’s Historical Village Park can be yours for an intimate wedding of a lifetime. Patrons can exchange vows amid the house’s beautiful architecture complete with chair covers and tasteful wedding décor sure to make your ceremony memorable. Couples may also take advantage of services provided by area vendors at a discounted rate.
The Octagon House is available for wedding rental on Friday evenings and Saturdays at various times. The Westland Historical Commission was formed in 1971 and collects, arranges, catalogs and preserves historical material relating to the history of the City of Westland Nankin Township and the surrounding area. Its nine member board is appointed by the Mayor and serves five year terms.

Perrinville School is located at Warren and Cowan Roads. It is a one-room, brick school house, built in 1856, It is open to the public some Sunday afternoons during the summer months. Grade school classes are welcome to register for a day visit to the school. |

The Historic Octagon House was moved from Hix/Warren area to its new home on the grounds of the Westland Historical Museum on April 3, 2002. The Westland Police Department, several utility companies and Wayne County personnel assisted in the project as well as City staff.
