About the Mayor
The City of Westland has a strong mayoral form of government, which means that the Mayor is a full time position.

William Wild, Mayor

Mayor William Wild and Family

Westland Mayor William R. Wild is proud to represent the city he has long called home. Having lived in Westland for over twenty years, Mayor Wild served on the Westland City Council for five years, or two terms, before becoming Mayor in January of 2007. He also served as Council President for one year.

The Mayor is a "John Glenn Rocket," having graduated in 1986 before attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Prior to becoming the Mayor of Westland, Mayor Wild owned Scrap Busters U-Pull-It Auto & Truck Parts in Wayne, Michigan for 18 years. He won the Automotive Recyclers of Michigan Presidential Award in 1996 and went on to serve as the organization's President from 2000 through 2002. Mayor Wild was also the Regional Director for Automotive Recyclers of America Association in 2000 while maintaining his involvement in municipal government by serving on the Westland Planning Commission from 1999 through 2001.

Currently Mayor Wild serves as a director with the Westland Community Foundation, is a member of the Westland Lions Club, and a supporter of D.A.R.E., Drug Awareness Resistance Education.

He and his wife Sherri, a fifth grade science teacher and 1988 John Glenn graduate, are the proud parents of Luke, 5, and Lily, 2, and newborn daughter Payton.
