Greener trucks will save money and the environment.  $27,000 in retrofits to existing fire trucks in Westland will lower carbon output by five and a half tons over ten years saving the city 10 to 15 percent in fuel costs.

Mayor Wild highlights his groundbreaking success and the attention Westland is getting form Lansing.Mayor William R. Wild was a recent guest of Carol Cain's on the Michigan Matters show.  Mayor took this opportunity to talk about the groundbreaking consolidation efforts and the favorable attention Westland is receiving from Lansing and other local communities.  "Cities that embrace consolidations are going to be the cities that thrive in the future and continue to deliver quality services," Wild said.

Carol Cain recently wrote on Freep.com: "The unique Westland-Wayne relationship is a poster child for Gov. Rick Snyder's Economic Vitality Incentive Program, which he announced last year to replace revenue sharing as an incentive for communities to work together."

Lt. Governor Brian Calley recently traveled from Lansing to attend Mayor's press conferenceannouncing the consolidation of the Westland and Wayne fire departments.  This consolidation will save both cities money while improving the level of staffing and medical and fire emergency service response.

Mayor Wild travels to St. Louis to participate in the 53rd Mayors' Institute on City Design.

Mayor was invited by the U.S. Conference of Mayors to participate in the Institute where the expert panel reviewed Mayor's project to relocate City Hall while also strengthening a vision for a town center.  To read more about the meeting select the blue logo at the left.



Listen as Mayor Wild explains what Westland has already been doing to "right-size" itself by bringing expenses in line with revenues. The work includes reducing staff while trying to maintain services residents want and deserve.


The Prosperity Agenda Explores How to Make a Better Michigan.
The Michigan Prosperity Agenda is a monthly radio show that challenges listeners to help make Michigan a better place to live, work and play by creating vibrant and prosperous local communities. It has aired on News/Talk 760 WJR at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month since January of 2010.

The hour-long radio program is hosted by Dan Gilmartin, CEO of the Michigan Municipal League (the League). The show is sponsored by the League and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA).
