The Bailey Center offers a full size gymnasium. The gym is the home of the WYAA (Westland Youth Athletic Association). Adult, family and middle school open gym times are available throughout the week.  Please pick up a weekly schedule at the front desk for exact times for Open Gym.  The gym is also available to rent. Gym Schedule: January 27-February 5, 2012

Gym Rules:

           1. Athletic Shoes Only.  No cleats or black marking soles allowed.
           2. The Bailey Recreation Center provides a family environment at all times.  This includes attire, 
               behavior, and language.
           3. Any table, chairs or other equipment in the gym must have appropriate padding under the feet. 
               Please consult with the Building Supervisor before moving any equipment in the gym.  
           4. Trash receptables are available in the gym for your use.  Please do not leave trash on the
                bleachers,  floor, etc. 
           5. Children must be supervised while in the gym area.
           6. Do not climb on any equipment being being stored in the gym.  Children are not allowed to climb
               on the gymnastics equipment of the gymnastics/cheer teacher is not present.  Children are not
               allowed to climb on the bleachers when they are not opened. 
           7. No dunking allowed.  Anyone attempting to hang on the basketball hoops for any reason will be
               asked to leave the gym and the gym will be closed for the remainder of the activity period. 
 
Middle School/High School Participation Criteria: Wayne/Westland School only.  Home schools children need parents' proof of residency.  Westland Students who attend Livonia School will use parents' proof of residency.  All I.D.'s will be current and have a picture.  Proof of residency using parents' information must be present in person by the parent and can include driver's license or utility bills for the residence.

Just a reminder: If you are 18 years of age and still attend high school, you may choose to participate in the Middle School and High School Gym Sessions.  However, you WILL NOT be able to participate in the adult open gym sessions once you have chosen to be classified as a student.  If, as an adult (age 18 or older) you choose ot participate in adullt only gym sessions, you WILL NOT be allowed to participate as a student in Middle School and High School sessions.

1. Adults are not allowed to participate with students.  (i.s. children, relative, etc.) during Middle School and High School session OR AT ANY OTHER TIME.  Adults may sit on the sidelines while students are playing and will not be charged to observe.
2. Children are not allowed to participate with adults at any time.  This includes open gym as well as leagues or rentals of the gym by an outside organization.  (Exceptions apply)

Rates: 
Adults:          $6.00 per person per session
Students:      $3.00 per student per session with identification.  
Family:          $8.00 per family per session.  Family includes mother/father/children
Private Gym Rental: $100 per hour, $250 deposit. 

1. Team practices are not allowed during family gym time.
2. Parent(s) must remain in the gym during family gym time.
3. Family gym sessions are for Westland or Wayne residents only.  You must provide proof of residency to participate.
