The Community Engagement Department has organized a Two-Day Multicultural Festival that aims to foster understanding, neighborliness and a sense of belonging in Westland, Michigan. Join us for a variety of live music, dance lessons, a fashion show, authentic foods, photo opportunity with movie stars, community connections and much more!

About

The Festival features three primary components. The leadership breakfast and awards will kick off the festival on Friday morning. Friday night and all day Saturday, you can enjoy the Multicultural Marketplace. Saturday at noon, is the Stronger Westland Parade. Details for the three parts of the festival can be found below.

Multicultural Leadership Breakfast and Awards

Commencing at 8AM on Friday, September 26, 2025

Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road


The breakfast will serve as the official kick off of the Festival. Lebanese-born Khalil Hachem, a multimedia journalist and realtor, will MC the breakfast.

Enjoy a variety of musical performances by artists of different genres, multicultural dance groups, authentic foods, photo opportunity with movie stars and watch an international fashion show at the Festival. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs! There will be a variety of foods representing different cultural backgrounds, as well as diverse cultural and educational products and services offered by vendors, including businesses and nonprofits showcasing their products and services and promoting their impact. Information on being a vendor at the festival can be found on the Vendor application. (Food vendors are required to secure all applicable licenses.) Stronger Westland Parade

Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 12PM-1PM


The multicultural parade will start at John Glenn High School and conclude at Tattan Park. Participation is free, but registration is required by September 22, 2025.

The parade will be led by our remarkable grand marshals:

  • Fox 2 News anchor Roop Raj
  • Award-winning actress and film producer Tennille Taraszkiewicz (The Film Chic)
  • Detroit News columnist and the PuLSE Institute founder Bankole Thompson

The parade will also feature the City's unofficial mascot, The Spartan (Jeffery Valentine).
