Senior Health & Wellness
About
A focus on lifelong health and well being is very important for older adults and the Department of Senior Resources agrees. Many programs, services, and events are offered year round to help assist older adults to live long and healthy lives.
Current Schedule
View our most up to date activity and event information at the City's new Recreation Portal!
You can also download a monthly schedule of the Friendship Center (PDF).
Blood Pressure & Diabetes Screening
These services are done on Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm by Madonna Nursing Students September through April. An excellent way to keep track of blood sugar levels, and keep a blood pressure record. Knowing there is a problem is half the battle - so keep on top of these important readings!
Flu Shots
There is minimally one flu-shot clinic offered through the Friendship Center each year, in October or November. Participants are covered under traditional Medicare, and some with an Medicare Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) are also included. Flu shots are given by appointment only. Call for more information.
Health Screenings
There is usually one formal health screening per year, however, many screenings are also available through the National Senior Health and Resource Day event in September.
