USDA Foods Distribution

About

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a supplemental food assistance program for income eligible individuals and families.

The Housing and Community Development Departments coordinate the distribution of surplus USDA foods to income eligible individuals and families.

To Qualify

Eligibility for TEFAP is based on income and residency: 

Income

  • Meeting the current State of Michigan TEFAP income guidelines
  • Need for emergency food
  • Current participation in
    • the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
    • Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
    • Supplemental Food Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Social Security Income (SSI)
    • Approved National School Breakfast/Lunch or reduced-priced meal application
    • Food Distribution on Indian Reservation Program (FDPIR)
